Aguni / Tonaki Islands

Dive Reservation

Aguni Island and Tonaki Island are located north of the Kerama Islands which some of you are already familiar with. These islands have beautiful coral reefs and underwater landscapes with fairly strong currents which bring many larger fish and ocean life for us to see.  Often the currents in these islands are home for large schools of fish like big-eyed jacks, tuna, napoleon fish, sharks and hawksbill turtles.

Our tours are scheduled in the best season to see these huge schools of big-eye jacks. Often the schools are so large that they appear to be a tornado circling around and around. In the months of April, May, June, and July, they are known to make these enormous schools in the currents circling nearby Aguni Island. Your dive becomes more exciting when some bigger predators like GT or Tiger Sharks try to catch the fish by dashing through the schools.  The beauty of thousands of fish acting as a single school moving in and around you as a diver is a unique sight you will never forget!

Tonaki Island has fantastic landscapes for canyon and cave lovers. Complete with a natural Blue Hole, many drop-offs leading to deeper waters and huge natural rock formations Tonaki Island is perfect for underwater photography.  Tonaki is also home to many sea turtles.  It is not uncommon to see several during the dive and many encounters are face to face!  On one particular dive last year, we counted over 15 turtles on one dive!
