Ugan

"Ugan" means man rock for a few obvious reasons. Anyway, this rock is one of the best dive sites out in the Keramas. Only accessible as a drift dive, currents can get pretty wicked, making this site off limits to novice divers. 

From the surface of the water, the steep cliffs of Ugan continue down to 40 meters/120 feet in some places. Riding the current around the rock, there are a few crevices and caves here and there with lots of lionfish in them. On the edge of the dropoff and along the wall there are large schools of pyramid butterfly fish, mountains of orange cup coral, blue fussilers, and thousands of pink, organe, and yellow anthias. Chances for seeing large sea creatures such as dogtooth tuna, napoleon fish, turtles, and sharks increase with the strong currents picking up.

After making your way around the rock wall, there is a sloping reef where the current is milder - ideal for use as an exit point at the end of the dive. Divers with sharp eyes can find few blue ribbon eels on the reef.
